Mark McCumber for Town Board

Mark McCumber and his wife Jeanine (Polito) both grew up in Colonie, Mark graduated from Shaker and Jeanine graduated from Colonie.
Mark is a veteran of the United States Navy and recently retired from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) where he worked as an Air Traffic Controller for over 35 years.

Mark began his FAA career at the Albany County Airport, before his career took him to Philadelphia and then to New York. Mark and Jeanine wanted to raise their two children in Colonie, so Mark returned to the Albany County Airport as the Manager of Air Traffic in 2003. In doing so, Mark was able to coach baseball teams with his son in Colonie Little League and Colonie Babe Ruth. Mark also coached softball teams with his daughter in Colonie, eventually helping take a travel team to represent Colonie in a Softball World Series event at Disney World.

In 2017 he became the Air Traffic Manager of LaGuardia Airport in New York, while still maintaining his residence in Colonie.

The teaching and training of others has always been one of Mark’s passions. During Mark’s career he was an FAA Collaboration Facilitator. Throughout his career he traveled around the country teaching Collaboration skills (teamwork), Communication skills, and Leadership skills to Air Traffic Control managers and to National Air Traffic Controllers Association (NATCA) Union leadership. Mark has also recently received certification as a Certified Life Coach through Coaches Training Alliance.
