Andre Claridge, District 22:

Andre Claridge was inspired to run for the County Legislature to build on the legacy of his friend and current legislator Peter Tunny, who is retiring. Like Peter, Andre has worked on numerous school bus safety initiatives and a law to help Colonie schools address school bus driver shortages.

Andre believes in giving back to his community and has volunteered for the YMCA and Colonie Youth Center where he helped raise money for the Ciccotti Center. His public service experience includes the work in the state legislature, Governor’s office, and the state tax department. Andre worked to protect Colonie’s streams while serving on the Significant Environmental Management Appeals Board. He is a small business owner and graduated from SUNY Plattsburgh with a BA in Political Science. Andre and his wife Morgan have three children in the South Colonie school district.

Andre’s “families first agenda” is fueled by talking to voters, and his belief that government should be a safety net for people in need – not a slush fund for politicians. Andre will work with his constituents to eliminate property taxes for seniors, and he supports common sense solutions for Colonie to keep crime out of our communities. His District comprises parts of Colonie from the Niskayuna border along the Route 7 corridor to Route 9, down to Bella Napoli’s along Watervliet Shaker Road, it includes the Albany Airport and runs back toward Route 7 along Vly Road.
