Alexandra Velella grew up in the Town of Colonie and graduated from Albany Academy for Girls before moving to New York City where she earned a bachelor’s degree in communications from Manhattan College, a master’s from Pace University and a J.D. from Brooklyn Law School.
Alexandra was admitted to practice law in 2019 and has worked in the private sector where she represents injured workers before the New York State Workers’ Compensation Board and members of the New York State and Local Retirement System in disability retirement actions before the Albany County Supreme Court and Appellate Division, Third Department. Alexandra also represents first responders and volunteers who have developed chronic illnesses due to toxic exposure at Ground Zero following the September 11th terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center.
At the start of the COVID-19 lockdown Alexandra returned to Colonie where she continues to work for a private law firm with offices in Albany, White Plains, Brewster and Syracuse.
If elected to the Colonie Town Board, Alexandra will support initiatives geared towards revitalizing areas in Colonie that have been detrimentally impacted by the COVID lockdown and years neglect under the existing administration, fostering a sense of community among Colonie residents, and creating opportunities for young professionals and families to flourish.
