THE NYS SOCIETY OF PROFESSIONAL ENGINEERS CRITICIZES REMOVAL OF PROFESSIONAL ENGINEER AS COMMISSIONER OF PUBLIC WORKS IN COLONIE

In a letter dated January 11, 2010, addressed to Supervisor Paula Mahan, Dr. James J. Yarmus, PhD and president of the NYS Society of Professional Engineers criticizes the appointment of Jack Cunningham as commissioner of public works.

Yarmus cites the position’s job description as one that requires a professional engineering license as recognized by New York State as a critical component and contends, “Giving an unlicensed individual authority over the operations and maintenance of this critical public infrastructure not only jeopardizes public safety, it also potentially burdens the town from a liability standpoint.” Read more

COLONIE REPUBLICAN COMMITTEE ANNOUNCES AFTER WORK NETWORKING EVENT

The Colonie Republican Committee has announced the second, of a series of monthly networking events scheduled at various establishments throughout the Town of Colonie to take place, at Lainie’s Cafe located at 471 Albany Shaker Road on January 13, 2010 from 5pm- 7pm.

The series was created in an effort to build party enthusiasm and support while bringing town residents and committee members together to exchange ideas about the future of the town and its leadership. “We are very pleased with the turnout of our first event and look forward to seeing some new faces at the next event” said committee chairman, John Graziano.

COLONIE TOWN BOARD MEMBER CALLS ON FELLOW BOARD MEMBERS TO WITHDRAW CUNNINGHAM AND BURICK APPOINTMENT
